Spring Hiking Essentials

Hi, I have a secret to tell you.

Hiking is just walking outside.

And since it is just a form of walking you already have all the equipment you need.

But here's a list of the gear I take hiking and links to purchase so you can be just like me:

Twinsies!

Absolutely Essential:

U will feel like a total noob for forgetting these at home...

Shoes

Good grips, flexible, mesh upper for when you got sweaty feet. A great shoe for when you're into hiking but don't want your look to scream "I LIKE TO HIKE!"

We get it Nancy, you went hiking once.

We get it Nancy, you went hiking once.

Backpack

Spacious, lightweight, water repellent, no waist strap so you can use it everyday without looking lost. Best part - this backpack is a top loader so your shit doesn't spill out every time you open it.

Waterbottle

I love this water bottle. It doesn't sweat, it keeps your water cold. What more could you want?

Layers

Jungle downpour or alpine blizzard, the Stretch Rainshadow Jacket with H2No® Performance Standard shell fabric offers lightweight, packable, streamlined protection for full range of motion in a full range of conditions. Plus it has a hood and so many pockets.

Hat

Sunburn isn't cute.

Sunglasses

Protect dem peepers.

Sunscreen

High performance zinc formula is hypoallergenic, vitamin E enriched & non-migrating. Designed to not bleed into your eyes, make your hands slippery, or come off during the most rigorous activities in the water, wind, or blazing hot sun. Unlike chemical sunscreens which absorb the sun rays in a chemical reaction that dissipates the heat back off the skin, mineral sunscreens reflect the sun's rays like a mirror to protect exposed skin.

Hand Sanitizer

You might find an enclosed place to pee but you're living in a fantasy if you think it will have soap and running water.

Cleansing Wipes

Whether you're on a little day hike or full on camping, nature calls when nature calls. Pack these No Rinse Bathing Wipes; they are flushable and compostable (breaking down within 28 days). You're welcome, Mother Gaia.

Extra Socks

Because things happen.

Camera

Sure you have a camera on your phone but it's pretty distracting from the beauty around you to pull that out all the time.

Nice to Have:

Not necessary in any way shape or form.

Bluetooth Speaker

  JBL

Waterproof and provides 8 hours of playtime.

Hammock

expectation

Reality. Hammock carefully, friends.

Ground Cover

Ultra compact, water repellent backside and puncture resistant fabric keep your bum clean and dry on all your adventures.

Glasses

I bought these for everyday use at home because we are clumsy af but they are designed for campers. Fully packable and shatterproof. Plus they can go in the dishwasher and they glow in the dark for some random reason. If you're not hiking for the adult bevvies then I don't know why you're even still reading this list because we don't have anything in common.

For Recovery:

This wearable sleeping bag is extra af but so am I.
